Faust, OS Mutantes @ WRFL Fest – 10/9-11

Faust_(band)_May2007 CONFIRMED! Faust is Touring the Eastern U.S. This Fall

WRFL is going pysch this year. First up, Faust is coming to Lexington’s WRFL Fest on 10/11. The wildly influential krautrockers performance comes on the heels of C’est Com…Com…Complique, release date as of yet TBA, although projected for 2009.  You can’t help but wonder whether the band, as influential as they’ve become, took a few notes from the storyline from which they’ve taken their name (one of my favorite stories of all time), and sold their souls to the devil in exchange for musical brilliance.  If you don’t know them…Faust influenced the bands that influenced the bands you listen to.  Although only half the size of the original band, they’ve stayed true to their fans.

If that wasn’t good enough, Os Mutantes are coming in for the festival as well on that Sunday. After a nearly 30 year hiatus, the band began touring again in 2006 and three years later we get them in Lexington. Although not seemingly as widely influential, artists such as Kurt Cobain, Kevin Barnes (Of Montreal), David Byrne, Beck, Super Furry Animals, Devendra Banhardt and others have claimed influence, and further have each actively tried to promote the band by sending a plea requesting a reunion tour (Cobain) and publishing (Byrne). Although Kurt’s wish didn’t come in time for him, we are fortunate enough for that wish to come true for us. The tour comes just in time to hear the new album, Haih, the band’s first release in 35 years, to be released on September 8, by ANTI- Records.

With these two bands already announced, we’re excited to see what other kind of treats WRFL Fest is going to bring us!

  1. I really wish Rita Lee would return to Os Mutantes but I’ll have to see if I can make this anyway.
