British Gov’t proposes £26M stimulus into the Music Biz

While the music business continues to struggle to find ways of enduring the effects of widespread piracy AND a depressed economy, the British Gov’t has stepped up, proposing £26M towards increasing jobs in the business, including festivals which employ a lot more people than you might suspect.

I won’t say that the US needs to do this, because I tend to think we’ve got a pretty good feel for which industries will create the most jobs, but can you imagine what we could do with the money?  £26M is roughly $40M under today’s exchange rate.  How would you want to allocate the funds to create jobs around a music-related sector?  Another series of festivals?  Grants to bands?

Thanks to TripWire for pointing this amazing stimulus package out…
