Ryan Adams & the Cardinals @ Louisville Palace – 3/16

Ryan Adams is coming to Louisville’s Palace Theatre on March 16th which for most of you college kids falls on the first day of Spring Break (so you’ll have plenty of time to hit Florida after the show).  Along with the recently sober Ryan Adams is his Cardinals, namely Neal Casal, Chris Feinstein, Jon Graboff & Brad Pemberton.  When I saw Ryan Adams in concert he was mashed and spent seemingly half of his set giving tribute to the Grateful Dead, and was fairly interactive with the crowd.  Now off the booze, and possibly his blogging addiction as well admittedly makes him a little less interesting to me.  Combine that with Paste Magazine’s recently review of Cardinology, the most recent album, giving it (what it calls) a “respectable” 64% while calling it “unremarkable” and summarizing it as an “uneven self-help record [that] leaves listeners undernourished”, and I might have somewhere else to be that night.

Nevertheless, I can’t deny that the show will be incredible as it almost always is.  More women than men are almost certain to be there, and more than likely a hefty chunk of tickets will be sold straight-away to the NPR crowd and college students on December 19th (12pm) when they go on sale, and there is always a chance that all those girls heading to Florida will be so excited about the trip that they just go ahead and wear their bikinis that night in preparation (though I wouldn’t count on it).

Ticket prices haven’t yet been announced, but as it’s at the Palace and the Kings of Leon show is $36, I would expect something in a similar range…
