Arnett Hollow Takes 5 for Kentucky

Arnett Hollow consists of the talents of Mike Dufresne (vocals/double bass), Chris Rodahaffer (vocals/guitar), Cheyenne Mize (vocals/fiddle), Rob Edwards (percussion), and Dave Chandler (guitar).

Arnett Hollow began as a recording project by songwriter/guitarist/vocalist Chris Rodahaffer in the spring of 2006. Rodahaffer called on several talented musicians to assist with the recording to achieve his vision. Two of these musicians are Cheyenne Mize and Rob Edwards. The months of recording culminated with the release of Arnett Hollows’ debut album, “After the Rain”. Since the release, “After the Rain” has received continuous radio play, and Arnett Hollow graced the cover of Louisville Music News in September of 2007. In November, Arnett Hollow was a featured performer for the Home Grown music series at Louisville’s 4th Street Live. They also recorded an episode of the Kentucky Homefront radio show which will hit the airwaves early in 2008.

The members of Arnett Hollow have shared stages with Ben Sollee, Patrick Hallahan of My Morning Jacket, Days of the New, the Fervor, Zongo, Apollo Sunshine, and The Cairo Gang, just to name a few.

You can next catch Arnett Hollow this Saturday, September 20 when they play with Cabin and Peter Searcy as part of the Ryder Cup festivities.

Chris “Roadie” Rodahaffer took five for Kentuckya and his responses are below…

1. What neighborhood did you grow up in?

I grew up in St. Matthews.  It was a cozy little house with an amazing back porch. I’ve had many great times out there playing and singing to the night. My parents still live there and it still feels like home.

2. When did you start playing together? Did you have a different band name?

Dave and I are buddies from high school and have played together for 12 years or so…He joined Arnett Hollow in January of this year. This is the first band we’ve both been in together and its been a real treat.

Rob, Cheyenne, and I have been at it about a year and a half, and Mike joined last summer.

3. First show you played in Kentucky (plus any details you remember about it)?

The first show I ever played in Kentucky was in 1996 at Saint Alberts church in the gymnasium. I was playing in a band called Chester. The place was packed.  I wore these green sunglasses with flashing lights on em. We were rockin. It was a blast. My mom picked me up after the show….
4. First show outside of Kentucky…how did you book it?

The first show we played outside of Louisville was at the Melody Inn in Indy. We got an email from their booking guy from myspace.

5. Favorite Kentucky band?

I really like Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy…MMJ….Pokey LaFarge is amazing…I really miss the Java Men… Its hard to pick a favorite.
