Homegrown Series: Ben Sollee, The Instruction & Wodka @ 4th Street Live – 9/4

Ben Sollee, The Instruction & Wodka are opening the Louisville Homegrown Thursday Concert series at Fourth Street Live.  The Louisville Homegrown series is a time to see loads of great Louisville bands in an after-work kind of setting, rather than having to deal with late night shows and having to drag yourself to work in the morning.

Last year’s series included performances by Your Black Star, The Photographic, Cabin, Paper Airplane, Arnett Hollow, Digby, The October, Peter Searcy, The Trust, Shinerunners, Follow the Train, The Fervor, The Invaders & Wax Fang.  That leaves plenty of other incredibly talented local bands to play for us this fall.

Ben Sollee has had a great year, being listed as one of NPR’s “Top Ten Unknown Artists” of 2007, has been featured on World Cafe, performed three sets at Bonnaroo this year, recording WXFL and Daytrotter sessions, being listed in Paste Magazine’s “The Best of What’s Next”, and has quickly become one of the most sought after indie artists in the country.   If you’ve not had the chance to see him, now is the time to catch Ben Sollee, because it will be his last performance in Louisville until November, where he’ll kick off his two month tour. Rumor has it that you might even get to hear Dear Kanye performed live.

Also, be sure to catch our good friends & one of Louisville’s absolute best new bands, The Instruction, of whom we cannot speak highly enough.

The show starts at 7 (most likely with The Instruction kicking it off), and is free.  Also, free parking is available at the PARC/Galleria garage.  The garage is adjacent to Fourth Street Live! on 5th Street between Muhammad Ali Blvd and Liberty St.
