Grampall Jookabox & PWRFL Power @ Skull Alley – 9/21

Buzzgrinder‘s Sean Canon has moved back to Louisville & is putting on his first show since he’s been back in town. He’s bringing around one of Louisville’s favorite Indianapolis musicians, Grampall Jookabox from Asthamatic Kitty, along with PWRFL Power and Louisville’s own, Chemic. If you’ve not gotten the chance to really listen to Grampall Jookabox, head over to MOKB, where they’re offering a free copy of the new EP for download. I met David (his real name) after one of McKinley’s shows at Glassworks with Ferdinand Fox & Bryan Scary & he was a really nice guy, so with the intimacy of Skull Alley, I suggest taking the chance to talk to him.

PWRFL Power is the true out-of-towner coming in for this show. You’ll know him for the Esurance commercial he scored (below) & this is the band that Sean was primarily interested in bringing to town, so don’t mistakenly think this is some miscellaneous opening act. Kazutaka Nomura, who originally came to Seatlle, WA from Japan as an exchange student (now living in Brooklyn) sings very post-modern, antifolk songs about everyday things and does so in an almost childlike way, similar to Kimya Dawson. It’s not for everyone, but it is certainly worth checking out for yourself, particularly for $3.  Participation is encouragement, so if we can get more people to these shows, we can start getting the price of admission down…hope to see you there…
