Forecastle Preview: Film School – Day 2

Film School are playing the 4 o’clock spot on Saturday. Film School started as a project by Greg Bertens and  a few others, including members of Pavement and F*ck. The name of the band was drawn from “living in the suburbs and this kind of prescribed notion that if you’re going to be creative, you had to be either in film school or in a band. So I started a band called Film School.” Since then, the lineup has shifted considerably and only Bertens and Ruck remain from the original core, and while the new stuff is less Pavement (perhaps because it lacks the pavement member) than earlier records, these guys still play shoegaze and highly textured space pop, culminating as a sonic waves of reverb and loops, topped off by beautiful vocals. This is one of those bands that people will be coming in from all over to see….
