Medeski Martin & Wood @ Bomhard Theatre – 7/18

Medeski Martin & Wood are coming to Louisville’s Bomhard Theatre (KCA). I was first introduced to these guys back in ’97 or so when they appeared on a CMJ sampler (yeah, you remember those). I was really fascinated by these guys and at the time I believe I couldn’t quite figure out if they were a jam band or whether they were electronic simply because I hadn’t heard anything quite like it. (Mostly) Wrong on both accounts, these guys play a very free range jazz that lends itself to the sort of confusion I’d had upon my first listen in my younger days. Some of their other work, alongside DJ Logic, has had a strong hip hop element to it. These guys can get kids and their parents out dancing to their jazzy grooves. Hopefully we’ll get to see a lot of what is to become The Radiolarian Series, the album in works, meant to be released sometime this year.

Show starts at 9pm & tickets run $25.50 (all ages)

  1. Where is bomhard theatre?

  2. Luke,

Bomhard Theatre is one of the theatres within Kentucky Center for the Arts. It has 619 seats, and is the medium-size theatre within KCA. Should provide a good and intimate environment in which to see Medeski Martin & Wood.
