Although not originally scheduled to be coming to the region, Ted Leo + Pharmacists will be playing Bogarts on October 14th with Against Me!. Unfortunately, after the horrific reception TL/Rx received in Louisville back in 2006, Cincinnati is as near as he has come since. By horrific reception, I mean at one point during his show, a girl in front of me yelled out “who are you?”, and at least she was honest because nobody else in the crowd except for me and one girl I saw mouthing the words appeared to even know who Ted Leo was (they were opening for Death Cab so it was a very young audience).
Nevertheless, TL/Rx is coming to Cincinnati’s Bogarts Theatre, which should be the ideal venue for the show, because hot, crowded and sweaty is the only way to experience this kind of energetic pop punk-inspired indie rock. If you’ve not yet seen Ted Leo, I highly highly highly encourage going to this show. While I’m less inclined to advocate Against Me! the same way, I think Ted Leo alone will make the trip to Cincinnati worthwhile…
