I’ll go ahead and label this one the show of the week. One Small Step is one of my favorite local bands and this will be one of their last show in Louisville for a while (as Jess and Zach are moving to Wisconsin). They are bringing with them a pair of bands from Bloomington, IN. One of those bands, Prizzy Prizzy Please, is playing Forecastle, so this FREE show will provide a nice preview to the festivities to come in July. I’m not too familiar with Good Luck, also from Bloomington, but a listen on their myspace only made the line-up more appealing (see a live recording of one of their songs at WIUX below). DJ SeanJohn, who opened at One Small Step’s release of Another Shelter, rounds out the showcase of talent. I can’t help but wonder if this is a P Diddy/Puff Daddy reference. The show Friday, 5/9, at Seidenfadens and starts at 10pm. Did I mention it is also free?

At 4pm that afternoon, all the bands except for DJ Sean Jean (void filled by Mountain Asleep) will be playing at Skull Mountain, “a house in the heart of St Matthews inhabited by several kids from the local music scene.” It is on the corner of Massie Ave. and Chenoweth Ln. (3835 Massie Ave.) That show is also free, a few bucks to the artists and hosts would provide you with excellent karma.
